This is a medical condition and she needs to see a doctor. There are a lot of possibilities. It could stem from a hearing loss, or a disease. Menieres Disease is one possibility. I hope she gets to the doctor soon. I know it can be painful and stressful.
I suffer from the same problem, have to go to take a nap at night with the TV on, with the timer or else all i do is listen to the ringing. Sometimes its aggravated by stress and sugary foods. Hope we find a cure.
